Regardless of unemployment news, people have to come to terms with our current economic reality in the US. People are cautious with their purchasing, and its all because of the employment situation. A look at the Retail Sales lever in the context of unemployment illustrates this:

Most financial media publish the monthly change for Retail Sales. But that is mostly noise, especially considering Unemployment:
